Working with a Remote Team

Working with a Remote Team

August 11, 2019

Let’s dig into some frequently asked questions about our remote team, how we work and why we’re bucking the system with our innovative virtual model:

Why did you create a virtual marketing agency, anyway?

When we started Two Impress, we put pen to paper and determined our values for this agency. Here’s where we landed:

Values

Collaboration – We focus on seamless client and agency interactions, creating a successful tandem working relationship

Flexibility – Our world-wide talent pool allows us to work with any client in any time zone

Respect – We put people first in everything we do because people matter

It was immediately clear to us that in order to honor our values, we were going to have to think outside the box in terms of how we structured our business. It just seemed so silly to continue trying to make an old model work with a modern values and ideals. And once we got that ball rolling, we developed a mission to support our cool, new idea:

Mission

Two Impress is on a mission to help brands succeed through a thoughtful, strategic and collaborative approach to marketing. We start by working closely with our clients to identify goals and opportunities. Then, we develop and execute customized marketing tactics utilizing a large network of creative talent from across the globe. This innovative agency model is a product of our people-first approach to marketing. Whether it’s the client, our team members or the end consumer—we’re committed to creating great experiences and delivering exceptional work.

With our values and mission defined, we knew we were on to something here. If we wanted to really make a difference for our clients and our team members, we were going to have to do things a little differently. So here we are today—a dynamic team of marketing professionals who don’t need no stinking office to get things done.

How exactly does it work?

Two Impress is a full-service virtual marketing agency headquartered in the heartland of the good ol’ USA. Think baseball and apple pie… yup that’s us. Except we’re so much more than that, because our home base is sort of inconsequential in this digital world we live in. See, we’ve recruited top-notch marketing talent from across the country—even the world—without relocating a single person. Why? Because we have the internet, and that’s all we need to stay connected and collaborate to do incredible work.

We are in constant, daily communication with our team members to ensure we meet deadlines, exceed client expectations and do work we’re proud of—on our own terms. Some of us are night owls, others prefer a standard 9–5 schedule. Some work out of a home office, others operate with the philosophy that work is where the WIFI is (and sometimes it’s the beach, because why not?).

The point is, we don’t need an office to create great things for our clients. We’re so much more productive when we work when and how we want—free from the oppression of cubicle life, micromanagers and endless meetings that could have easily been an email.

Okay, but how, specifically, do you collaborate so well when you’re not physically near one another?

Well, we have the internet to thank for that. Technology has come so far in the past several years, causing a rapid shift in the way we conduct business. In the marketing world, we have plenty of great options for staying in touch with our team:

  • Email & Phone Calls
  • Texting & Instant Messaging
  • Video Calls & Conferencing
  • Screen Sharing
  • Project Management Software

The best part of our model is that it’s only getting easier to stay connected through technology, and we love discovering all the cool new ways to communicate with our team.

Are you really more efficient this way?

The short answer is yes. But let’s talk about why that’s the case. First and foremost, if you’ve ever worked in a traditional office setting, you understand how many distractions and barriers to success you encounter in your physical workspace. From coworker interruptions and loud phone calls to pointless meetings—not to mention the commute.

Our team has the freedom to work when they want, where they want and how they want. Yes, we all need to stay connected and collaborate on work, but there’s nothing that can’t be accomplished virtually. We’re each able to carve out our own distraction-free work environment—whether that’s a home office, coffee shop, city park or mountain resort.

Additionally, this model affords our team members a much higher level of work/life balance, which in turn, makes us all more efficient. Each of us has the freedom to take care of personal obligations when we need to, travel when we want to, and maintain ownership over our careers (what a novel concept!). This level of autonomy is crucial, because not being forced to adhere to a traditional schedule or be physically present at an office leads to higher job satisfaction and higher quality work.

So there you have it! Want to learn more about how we work? Drop us a line. We’d love to talk to you about our unique virtual model and how much we love our work!
